Sarah’s Oops Frosting
My sister gave me this frosting recipe many years ago thinking it was the Wilton’s frosting recipe. Turns out it isn’t, but it is still delicious! If you want to make the frosting the Wilton’s way the recipe is available on their website. I prefer this method for cookies because I normally make a bunch and the correct recipe calls for meringue powder. Meringue powder can add up cost wise if you’re using 1 TBS per pound of powdered sugar.
-1 cup shortening
-7 TBS water
-1 tsp butter extract
-1 tsp almond extract
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1 two pound bag of powdered sugar
For the frosting I purchase Crisco Baking Sticks, do not buy the butter flavor just the plain.
- Add shortening, extracts and water together, mix well.
- Slowly add powdered sugar.
- Mix until entirely combined and fluffy.
- Refrigerate with damp paper towel over frosting to keep it moist.
I use frosting bags and decorating tips to decorate the cookies. You can simply frost them too. Enjoy!
